Best time to goApril to June and September to October for mild weather and full cultural calendars. Milan empties out and many places close in August, and winter can be grey and damp, though December brings the Sant’Ambrogio season and Christmas markets.
Getting aroundThe Metro is fast, cheap, and covers everything you’ll want; a day pass pays off quickly. The center is walkable and trams add charm for longer hops. Reserve Last Supper tickets weeks ahead, as they sell out far in advance.
Local tip: Book Santa Maria delle Grazie (The Last Supper) the moment you have dates; entry is timed and capped at small groups. Aperitivo hour runs roughly 6 to 8pm, when a drink often comes with generous snacks.
