3-Day Ho Chi Minh City Itinerary: A Day-by-Day Template

Ho Chi Minh City, still widely called Saigon, is Vietnam's fast, humid commercial heart. Its compact District 1 holds the colonial landmarks and war history, while Cho Lon to the west is one of Asia's great Chinatowns. Three days is a comfortable first visit.

Best time to goDecember to April is the dry season and the most reliable time to visit. The wet season from May to November brings short, heavy afternoon downpours that clear quickly, so an umbrella and a flexible schedule handle it.
Getting aroundCentral District 1 is walkable between sights. Use the Grab app for cheap air-conditioned cars and motorbike taxis to reach Cho Lon and outer districts, and cross the relentless traffic slowly and predictably.
Local tip: Coffee here is strong and iced, taken with condensed milk (ca phe sua da). Do the low-stool street food at breakfast and lunch, and if you want the Cu Chi Tunnels, book a half-day guided tour a day ahead since they sit well outside the city.
