Best time to goJune to August for white nights and open island ferries. Winter is dark and cold, though it is also the honest season for a sauna.
Getting aroundTrams cover the peninsula and the ferry to Suomenlinna runs on the same ticket. The centre is compact enough to cross on foot in half an hour.
Local tip: The Suomenlinna ferry is part of the public transport network, not a tour boat. A standard day ticket covers it, and it runs year round.
